Broadband stimulus to boost American economy
218 million American citizens have access to internet networks but only 65 million can use the broadband. The goal of this operation is to increase the broadband network and in fact boost the economy. Even in crisis time, internet stays a necessity. Obama has launched a national plan to improve the broadband network.
The 4 billion dollars will be split up between different departments. Strangely, one part of subvention will be given to the agriculture department which will obtain 2.5 billions of dollars and the second fraction, the largest with 4.7 billions of dollars, is for National Telecommunications and Information Administration.
Obama wishes spread the network to rural areas, the least served, as is Virginia. This action tallies with his social political line: reduce inequalities and develop all social classes. The other target is building broadband infrastructure, public computer centers and integrate broadband’s use in education programs. “The objective of the Recovery Act is to stimulate demand and facilitate greater use of broadband services while contributing to economic growth and job creation”
A study shows a more important consumption in areas with broadband thanks to purchases on line. Spread broadcast is maybe an efficient mean to create more economical demands in more American regions when we know that household consumption is 70% of American GNP.
